Science and Business: Ways of Development, 2023. β No. 1 (139). β Pp. 141-143.
Abstract
In modern conditions, most countries of the world are oriented toward international foreign policy. The article notes that Israel, possessing a complex geopolitical position, has unique experience participating in regional policy and forms its own specific attitude toward economic integration processes. The conducted analysis allows identifying the main trends and directions for developing Israels international relations with neighboring states.
Keywords: regional policy, economy, integration, Israel, foreign trade.
Introduction
The relevance of the research topic is due to the fact that in the era of globalization, regional integration becomes one of the key factors for the economic survival and prosperity of states. For Israel, located in the specific geopolitical environment of the Middle East, questions of economic integration are inextricably linked with issues of national security and political recognition.
Geopolitical Features of Israel
Israel represents a unique example of a state whose economic strategy for decades was built under conditions of partial or complete isolation from its immediate neighbors. This led to the formation of an "island" type of economy, oriented toward distant markets (USA, EU) and the development of high technologies that are less sensitive to logistical barriers.
However, recent years have been marked by a qualitative shift. The signing of the "Abraham Accords" opened new horizons for regional integration, allowing Israel to move from a policy of containment to a policy of active economic partnership with Arab countries.
Economic Integrations and Foreign Trade
Israel actively participates in international economic processes, using a flexible approach to integration. Unlike classic integration blocks (such as the EU), Israel prefers bilateral free trade agreements. This allows the country to maintain sovereignty in decision-making while simultaneously gaining access to markets.
Main areas of regional integration include:
- Energy: Development of gas fields in the Mediterranean Sea creates a base for cooperation with Egypt, Jordan, and potentially with European countries.
- Technological Exchange: Export of Israeli technologies in cybersecurity, agriculture, and water desalination to the Persian Gulf countries.
- Logistics: Projects to create transport corridors linking India, the Middle East, and Europe through Israeli ports.
Conclusion
Israel demonstrates high adaptability to the changing conditions of global and regional politics. The specifics of its approach to integration lie in the priority of pragmatic economic interests and security over formal participation in multilateral organizations. In the long term, the success of Israels regional policy will depend on its ability to integrate into the value chains of neighboring countries while maintaining its technological advantage.
